Session 01
15:05-15-35: SPICE
15:35-16:05: NANOQTECH
16:05-16:35: NANOARCHITECTRONICS
Session 02
17:00-17:30: BE-OPTICAL
17:30-18:00: NOLOSS
18:00-18:30: PHENOMEN
SPICE is a project funded under the EU H2020 FET-OPEN RIA program. It intends to create a spintronic-photonic integrated circuit platform for novel electronics, which can be applied in ultrafast and energy-efficient memory or sensor technology. This goal will be achieved by combining recent scientific breakthroughs in magneto-optic materials with the emerging integrated technology platforms for silicon photonics and magnetic memory.
Nanoscale systems for optical quantum technologies (NanOQTech)
NanOQTech is a European Union Horizon 2020 project funded through the FET Open programme. The goal has been to build nanoscale hybrid quantum devices that strongly couple to light. To achieve that, the project wanted to create solid-state nanostructures that exploit the uniquely narrow optical transitions of rare earth ions. Within the project, they expect these devices to lead to major advances in quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum opto-electronics
The PHENOMEN project: All-Phononic Circuits Enabled by Opto-mechanics
PHENOMEN (Ref. 713450) is a European project awarded in the call H2020-FET-OPEN-2014-2015-RIA. PHENOMEN is at the intersection of photonics, radio-frequency (RF) signal processing and phononics. The long-term vision of PHENOMEN is to lay the foundations of a new information technology based on the manipulation of coherent phonons via cavity optomechanics and their coupling to photons and RF electronics.
Advanced Biomedical Optical Imaging and Data Analysis (BE-OPTICAL)
Optical imaging has seen exceptional advances in the last two decades and this session will present recent advances of the Project BE-OPTICAL (H2020 675512, beoptical.eu). Research involves fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy, OCT, optogenetics, and methods for image analysis.
NOLOSS
This is a EU Horizon 2020 project funded through the Research & Innovation Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Program. The target of this project is to prepare and train future engineers for the design challenges and opportunities provided by modern optics technology. Such challenges include lossless photon management, modelling at the system, components and feature level, and the link between design and technology.
NANOARCHITECTRONICS
This project is an H2020 Coordination and Support Action. Its main objective is to promote the Nanoarchitectronics (NTX) concept. The name NTX comes from the merger of three key terms: “nano”, “architecture” and “electronics”. It is a new technology aimed at conceiving, designing and developing reconfigurable, adaptive and cognitive structures, sensorial surfaces and functional “skins” with unique physical properties and engineering applications in the whole electromagnetic spectrum, through assembling building blocks at nanoscale, in hierarchical architectures.
