SMETHODS - Training domain 4: Optical Design for Diffractive Optics

Location:
Jena, Germany
Duration:
2 July 2012 - 6 July 2012

SMETHODS is a FP7 funded support action which organises trainings in optical design. The participation in the training sessions is free for everybody – although priority is given to employees of small and medium sized European enterprises (SMEs). This recently started programme aims to strengthen Europe's optics and photonics industry by providing trainings and hands-on practice in optical design and simulation.

Training domain 4: Optical Design for Diffractive Optics

Purpose: Hands-on training in design and optimisation of diffractive optics elements of different scales for imaging and non-imaging systems. At the end of the session, trainees will understand the applicability and limitations of different computational diffraction models. Furthermore, trainees will learn to formulate optimisation problems in diffractive optics, will learn methods to obtain an initial design and methods for optimizing these.

Target Group:
SME employees, employees of other companies who need capabilities in optical design for diffractive optical systems.

Prerequisites: Masters in photonics, electrical engineering or physics, or several years professional experience as a technician or engineer in a photonics context.

Coordinators: Prof. J. Turunen (UEF). Associate coordinator: Prof. H.P. Urbach (TUD),  Prof. P. Chavel (IOGS) and Prof. F. Wyrowski (FSU).

Registration deadline:
20 May, 2012
