Supporting young women in science - Faculty for the Future

The Faculty for the Future is a programme providing support to women in science with the objective to see the number of women pursuing scientific careers going up. The programme is now calling for 2011 fellowship applications.

Established by the Schlumberger Foundation in 2004, Faculty for the Future has grown to a community of more than 140 women from 43 countries world-wide.

Faculty for the Future is an education programme aimed at women in emerging economies to encourage and support them to start scientific academic careers. To achieve this, the initiative provides funding for advanced graduate study at top universities abroad. This funding is granted upon acceptance of a fellowship application. Ideally, Faculty of the Future fellows “serve as role models for the next generation” in their home country to attract more young women to sciences.

The application timeframe for the 2011 fellowships is open until 30 November.

Information on the application criteria and process can be found at www.slb.com/about/community/foundation/facultyfuture.aspx.
